Nintendo showed developers the Switch 2 at Gamescom 2023

A new report from Eurogamer claims that Nintendo showed the Switch 2 to developers behind closed doors during Gamescom 2023 last month.
We had previously reported that the company would be returning to the show for the first time in years. Fans could play games like Pikmin 4 in the exhibition space, but the more interesting action took place behind closed doors.
According to Eurogamer, the partners were “shown technical demos of how well the system should work”. The report went on to say that such a demo is “a souped-up version of the Switch launch title, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, designed to meet the Switch 2’s more demanding target specs.” That doesn’t mean Nintendo intends, however to actually publish this.
Speculations about a Switch successor are increasing this year. According to a report over the summer, the system would feature a portable mode similar to the current console, which is no surprise. In addition, the market launch is said to be planned for the second half of 2024. The device might feature an LCD screen, which might be a slight disappointment for some who have gotten used to the current Switch OLED.
