Rangers star Joe Aribo could leave Ibrox this summer with growing Premier League interest in him if Nottingham Forest enters the race.

After reaching the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Gers expect interest in a large number of key players.

Defender Calvin Bassey certainly made the most of the big stage with a commanding performance in the final.

Others like Ryan Kent and Glen Kamara will have their admirers but Rangers will face a struggle to keep midfielder Aribo.

The Daily Record report that Nottingham Forest are now keen to sign Aribo and are competing with Crystal Palace in the race for his signature.

Aribo, 25, scored nine goals and ten assists in a stellar campaign last season and became a real force in Rangers’ midfield.

Aribo, who was signed from Charlton Athletic in 2019, now has just one year left at Rangers.

It could be tempting for Aribo to try out Premier League football as Forest and Palace are now interested in it.

The Nigeria international is a tall and lean attacking midfielder but he also played as a makeshift striker last season.

That could appeal to Steve Cooper at Forest, who cast Philip Zinkernagel and Brennan Johnson in fluid roles last season.

Forest’s primary target in midfield appears to be Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Morgan Gibbs-White.

However, if a deal for Gibbs-White doesn’t materialize, Forest could turn his attention to Aribo, which would almost certainly be a cheaper deal.

This is far from ideal for Rangers who know they may need to sell now rather than see Aribo 2023 go free.

Called “priceless” by Barry FergusonAribo has become one of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s most important men but the chance to play in the Premier League could be too big to turn down when Forest calls.
