NYPD arrests ex-boyfriend of dismembered woman found in suitcase

investigators inside NYC have arrested the ex-boyfriend of Dasia Johnson, the 22-year-old Brooklyn woman whose dismembered body was found wrapped in suitcases last month, and are searching for six other witnesses who are wanted for questioning.

The ex-boyfriend, who has not yet been publicly identified, was arrested over the weekend on an active warrant out of Nassau County unrelated to the Johnson case, according to the NYPD New York Post.

Multiple NYPD sources report PERSONS that the police questioned him in connection with the murder of the young woman.

Murder victim’s ex-boyfriend remanded in custody, NYPD seeks six other “witnesses” for questioning

Police released photos of five women and one man they said were “wanted as witnesses in connection” with the grisly Brooklyn murder. All six were said to be staying at Johnson’s Brooklyn home at the time of her death.

Johnson’s former beau has been in the 75th Precinct precinct since Monday and has been on the NYPD’s radar since the gruesome discovery.

Her body was found dismembered in her East New York apartment on September 21 after concerned relatives were unable to reach her.

According to police sources, Johnson’s body had been dismembered and placed in two suitcases.

The victim had an active restraining order against the former beau, neighbors describe the ongoing abuse she was subjected to

She had an active restraining order against the ex-boyfriend in question. Her ex-boyfriend was arrested back in March when he violated the restraining order by showing up at her home to pick up some of his belongings, outlet sources said.

Her apartment was drenched in blood after the murder, a neighbor told the Post.

“Blood everywhere, lots of blood,” neighbor Stephanie Harris said at the time. “It was bad. “You can imagine what happened to her. You know she fought for her life.”

Other neighbors told the outlet about the ongoing abuse Johnson suffered at the hands of her former boyfriend, who said she was often spotted with bruises on her body. One resident said the boyfriend even threatened her young daughter.

Family mistake Security forces built up for not doing enough to protect the murder victim after being asked for a health check

Johnson’s family has since laid some blame on building security for not doing enough to protect them.

Her relatives called building security on September 21 to give Johnson – a trainee teacher – a health check. However, the guards were turned away by two men, one of whom police say is believed to be her ex-boyfriend.

Security forces eventually returned to her home later in the day and discovered her remains before calling the police.

Authorities have not filed any formal charges against the former boyfriend as of Monday.

A candlelight vigil was held in Johnson’s honor on September 28.

Anyone with information regarding Johnson’s death and/or the identities of the six other witnesses is urged to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers.

That Crime Stopper Program offers rewards of up to $3,500 for anonymous information provided to the 800-577-TIPS hotline leading to the arrest and conviction of a violent criminal.
