Officials are investigating Lancaster County fires

EPHRATA, Pa. (WHTM) – On Thursday, February 23, at approximately 7:46 p.m., the Ephrata Police Department and Ephrata Fire Department were dispatched to a building fire in the Ephrata Borough.
The building fire happened at 2 E. Locust Street – on arrival, first responders found a garage on fire. Flames from the fire also scorched nearby residences, according to the Ephrata Police Department.
Nobody was injured by the fire.
According to the Ephrata Police Department, three families living in a nearby apartment building were evicted due to damage to power lines and electric meters that were melted by the fire.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a teenager was recklessly toying with a lighter and an aerosol can. According to the Ephrata Police Department, this later started the fire after the contents of the garage were set on fire.
Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
