Earlier this week, she hit back at reports of a feud with leading lady Florence Pugh.
Addressing the couple’s widespread falling out on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, Olivia insisted she had “nothing but respect” for Florence, 26, despite being plagued by claims to the contrary.
She gushed about Florence’s performance in the controversial film and suggested being questioned about the feud was sexist because it wasn’t something her “male fellow directors” would answer.
The actress also doubled down on claims she fired former leading actor Shia LaBeouf, 36, insisting he gave her an “ultimatum” to choose between him and Florence and clarifying, “I chose Florence.”

Shut down: Olivia Wilde has hit back at reports of a feud with her ‘sensational’ Don’t Worry Darling leading lady Florence Pugh
Asked by Stephen if she was “feuding” with Florence, Olivia shut down rumors of tension between the two as she gushed over the star’s “sensational” performance in the film.
Wilde, who is dating lead actor Harry Styles, has been at the center of speculation over an alleged on-set rift with Florence, with original co-star Shia also contributing to the drama.
But she has now described Florence as a “superhero” and insisted she “for some reason doesn’t have anything against her” as she doubled down to deny any spitting.
“She is sensational in this film. And it’s about being brave enough to listen to the brave people who have come before her who have ignored everyone else and to trust their instincts,” Olivia said.

“And she’s the one brave enough to dismantle the system. She’s a superhero. And Florence Pugh is just as good at the dramatic work as she is at the action. There are real action sequences in the film. She has a run that I refer to as her “Tom Cruise run.” It’s the most impressive run I’ve ever seen,” she added.
Olivia appeared to address claims that Florence had scheduling conflicts for a press conference at the Venice Film Festival, saying there’s “nothing cooler than a busy actress”.
“I have nothing but respect for Florence’s talent. She is fantastic. She is currently on the set of her film Dune. There’s nothing cooler than a busy actress. I have nothing against her for any reason,’ said Olivia.
Florence skipped a press conference for the film because her flight would reportedly land too late to get there, although she was seen enjoying an Aperol Spritz nearby during the film.

Feud? The actress also doubled down on claims she fired former leading actor Shia LaBeouf, 36, and insisted he gave her an “ultimatum.”
Commenting on a video of Florence enjoying her cocktail at the time, Stephen said: “People pointed out that she had an Aperol Spritz during the press conference and didn’t show up for it.”
To which Olivia cryptically replied, “You pointed that out.”
She added, “I think what’s funny is I don’t feel like my fellow male directors are answering questions about their cast,” to a round of applause from the studio audience at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City.
Rumored conflict: Director Olivia, who is dating actor Harry, has been at the center of speculation over an alleged rift with Florence (both pictured in the film)
“These are not questions you ask a director. They should talk about the film itself,” Stephen added, while admitting he whetted his appetite by asking her about the rumours.
Olivia reportedly clashed with Florence during filming as the Black Widow star was reportedly unhappy about it Allegations that Olivia “hooked up” with Harry while she was engaged to Jason Sudeikis.
Olivia and Jason, 46, got engaged in 2012 and share children Otis, eight, and Daisy, five. They were thought to have split in November 2020 and Olivia made headlines with Harry in January 2021.
Although it has never been confirmed that Olivia and Harry’s romance began when she was still engaged to Jason, Page Six reported that Florence has fallen out over the coupling with Olivia.
Then, in the run-up to the film’s release, Florence did little to no publicity for the film and was seen enjoying a cocktail nearby in Venice when she skipped a press conference for Don’t Worry Darling.
The rumors intensified when Olivia suggested that Florence should have a “wake-up call” in a leaked video shared by Shia as he refuted Wilde’s claim that he had been fired.
Shia was originally slated to star in Don’t Worry Darling before Olivia replaced him with Harry, with Olivia claiming Shia’s trial was “not conducive to the ethos I demand in my productions”.
But in response, Shia – who claims he quit “due to lack of rehearsal time” – shared an email he sent to the director and a video she allegedly sent him to prove that he left the film instead of being fired.
Olivia said: “It’s a matter of semantics. It wasn’t going to go the way he wanted, so he had to go.’
