Unal struggled at Villarreal but was reborn at Getafe after a string of loan appearances.

He has scored 15 goals in 35 LaLiga games for the relegation-threatened side. His most successful season since a short-lived stint in the Eredivisie with FC Twente in 2016/17.

“I don’t have a specific goal of playing in England,” says Unal. “I can say that I have found my home now. It is an association with a family structure. I enjoy the football I play and my life (here). This is very important to me. And for me to go, there has to be something that definitely convinces me.”

“I have more maturity on the pitch. I’ve scored four headed goals this year, more than in previous years. I think I’ve improved in all sorts of areas.”
