Pakistan’s Shehbaz Sharif becomes prime minister

Islamabad, Pakistan-Shehbaz Sharif became prime minister of Pakistan by a parliamentary vote on Monday, inheriting a highly polarized political situation and a deteriorating economy.

Mr Sharif, 70, is getting his first shot at the top job after years as his older brother’s junior political partner, Nawaz Sharif, a three-time Prime Minister who is considered a charismatic leader.
