Paradox announces Millennia, its “Take on Civilization” series

Today, Paradox Interactive announces its mission to become true competitors to everyone’s favorite franchises millennia. This time 2K’s civilization The series appears to be in the publisher’s crosshairs millennia is a 4X strategy game in which you run an empire over 10,000 years. While this sounds very familiar and safe, the developers at C Prompt Games are mixing things up with the inclusion of what they call Variant Ages.
The way it works is that you start in prehistory, the Age of Stone, and move through different eras of history. In millenniaGuide your burgeoning civilization using National Spirits that grant certain bonuses and invest in six different areas of governance and culture: exploration, government, warfare, diplomacy, technology and art. There are up to ten eras to explore on each playthrough, with each era offering unique units, rules, buildings, and more.
However, achieving certain goals can cause the story to take a different course than reality. The announcement trailer below highlights some of these possibilities, including the Age of Alchemy, the Age of the Elders, and the Age of Aether. It also offers insights into what may happen beyond the present, including the solarpunk age of ecology, the alien invasion scenario Age of Visitors, and the age of rogue AI.
Although millennia is C Prompt Games’ first project and is led by some impressive staff. Its co-founders are Rob Fermier and Ian M. Fischer. Fermier was also a co-founder BioShock Developer Irrational Games and was a lead programmer at System shock 2but edited more recently Age of Empires Online And Orcs must die! at Robot Entertainment. Fischer previously worked at for more than a decade Age of Empires And Halo Wars Developer Ensemble Studios, ended his tenure as lead game designer before also becoming design director at Robot Entertainment for nearly a decade.
Paradox is planning to release it millennia in 2024, and so far only a PC launch is confirmed. The publisher also has the next iteration of it SimCity-Murderer Cities: Skylines 2 will be released on October 25th and life of youit is like that The Simsscheduled for March 6, 2024.
