Paul Merson believes Spurs have found a ‘bargain’ – reckons Liverpool should have had it

Paul Merson has spoken Sports Keedawhere he made a claim involving Tottenham, Liverpool and Yves Bissouma.

What’s the matter?

Well, the 54-year-old believes Tottenham have already sealed the summer’s signing after they wrapped up £25 million Deal for the Malian international from Brighton.

Bissouma has signed a five-year deal in north London and some sources say Spurs have beaten Arsenal with his signature.

Now Merson – who supports the Gunners – has swallowed his pride and admitted Tottenham have added an “incredible” addition to their squad that Liverpool should have explored.

The Sky Sports Soccer Saturday pundit wrote: “This is an incredible coup for Spurs as Yves Bissouma could have played for any of the other top six sides in the Premier League. I look at Liverpool midfield and I have a feeling he could play for them. £25m in this day and age – that’s nothing. Spurs got themselves an absolute bargain.”

We can’t help but agree.

Bissouma would be in talks for the summer signing even if the fee were around £40million given his talented footballer.

So it’s an amazing deal for Tottenham to secure his signature for just £25m and with Antonio Conte coaching him we expect the 25-year-old to be even better next season.

Liverpool decided to leave Yves Bissouma to Tottenham

Interestingly, Liverpool have reportedly taken a look at Bissouma, as Merson suggests they should have.

However, Jurgen Klopp decided against bringing the Malian to Anfield – in fact, rumor has it the Reds felt they could easily have struck a deal with Brighton.

Instead, Liverpool decided to spend the bulk of their budget on Darwin Nunez, who arrived from Benfica in a deal valued initially at £64m and could potentially rise to a club-record £85m with add-ons.

Still, Liverpool haven’t shortlisted just anyone, so it says a lot that Bissouma was even on their radar – clearly he’s a very talented player who has impressed during his time in the Premier League.
