Paul Merson says 4 Tottenham players Conte ‘didn’t like’ won’t leave

Paul Merson has stated that the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Steven Bergwijn, Joe Rodon and Giovani Lo Celso ‘are not going anywhere’ during the January transfer window, as he told Sky Sports News (01/01/22 at 2:10pm).
The Sky pundit has agreed that although Antonio Conte ‘didn’t fancy’ the Tottenham players, they would not leave unless ‘drinked all the wine’.

Of the players mentioned above, only Ndombele started in the Premier League under Conte and that was Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
The signs are that if another team knocks on the door to get those players, there won’t be much of a fight to keep them.
And the fact that they don’t have many minutes on the pitch also shows that they should find a way to go on.
But Merson doesn’t think they’ll get anywhere anytime soon, as he suggests the financial situation has to be right for them for that to happen.
“There are properties that they can sell,” said host Jeff Stelling. “Probably Steven Bergjwin. Joe Rodon, whom he doesn’t seem to like. Ndombele, whom he doesn’t seem to like. Lo Celso. ”
Merson replied: “The point is, in this day and age. They are all players, you just named. They won’t go anywhere.
“Unless they get the drinks out there. They’re not going anywhere and that’s going to be the problem.
“If you’re going to get rid of them, they’re going to have to swallow a pill.”
Tottenham are chasing Champions League football under Conte and their opening game could be just as important as their record.
For too long, Spurs have been in a situation where some of their star players or big-money players have either stalled or they’re out of business.
People like Ndombele are certainly in that bracket and moving away from north London is the best option.
But given the record fee the club paid for the Frenchman, it won’t be so easy for him.
