Peta Murgatroyd shared some news after a doctor’s appointment.

Peta Murgatroyd has opened up about suffering three miscarriages over the course of two years while trying to conceive her second child.

The Dancing With the Stars pro spoke to People magazine to share her pregnancy struggles in a candid interview that went live in June 2022.

“I was completely embarrassed, ultimately ashamed. I didn’t even know how to pronounce the words and get that phrase out of my mouth: I had a miscarriage. I’m someone who takes pride in health and wellness. I train every day. But as I realized, that doesn’t really go with the reproductive system,” Murgatroyd told the outlet.

Since opening up about the challenges she is facing, Murgatroyd has been sharing her IVF journey on Instagram. She has posted videos of herself giving herself injections, and on June 27, 2022, she documented a visit to the doctor’s office for an ultrasound.

Here’s what you need to know:

Murgatroyd has multiple follicles after starting IVF

In her interview with People magazine, Murgatroyd said she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She and her husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy decided to try IVF in hopes of a viable pregnancy.

“For the first time in almost two years, I’m excited. I’m in a much happier place. I got answers,” she told People.

After the IVF process began, Murgatroyd went for an ultrasound so doctors could see how many follicles she had. She shared a video of the process on Instagram and the doctor seemed very optimistic.

“You make a ton of these follicles,” said Dr. Mark Surrey the couple.

After leaving the appointment, Murgatroyd revealed there were “11 giant follicles in one ovary and 17 giant follicles in the other”.

“Let’s just have lots of babies! Let’s have a football team, what do you think?” said Murgatroyd.

Fans sent their prayers and well wishes through the comments section.

“Sending you all the love and happiness. I had my withdrawal in April. I just called my IVF nurse this morning and would like to start preparing for the transfer in July. This will be our 4th transfer. 2 successful, but they went home to God early. Cheer up and never lose faith. All needles, all medicines, all prayers are just little extra splashes of love. We are in this together with so many others.” read a comment.

“I think it’s so helpful to so many women that you show what so many of us go through to have a baby. The IVF process is a true team sport! Good luck to you all! Keep laughing and support each other. You have many cheerleaders following your journey.” another person wrote.

Murgatroyd prepares for egg retrieval

During the ultrasound, Murgatroyd’s doctor told her that she needs to be seen every day so they can determine when to have her egg retrieval.

“We need to get numbers from you every day,” said Dr. Surrey and told Murgatroyd that she needed to take it easy for a few days. “No exercise, no sex,” he told her.

Meanwhile, Murgatroyd’s husband couldn’t get enough of the strange tools in the doctor’s office and filmed them for all to see.

“Er… those ‘tools’ are NOT OK,” Chmerkovskiy commented on his wife’s postspoke about the ultrasound wand he filmed for several seconds during the office visit.
