Peta Murgatroyd was terrified when she found out she was pregnant

Dancing With the Stars pro dancer Peta Murgatroyd was terrified when she first learned that she and husband Maks Chmerkovskiy were expecting their second child.

“I held back for three days before I told Maks,” she said Us weekly. “Because I wanted to see what would happen. It was a scary journey because, honestly, I would panic every time I went to the bathroom.”

She added: “Some kind of panic would set in like this might be the last time you feel good either way, you know? It was different until I hit maybe the 14, 15 week mark where I was like, ‘Oh, ok.’ Everyone told me to f*ck relax.”

Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy announced they are expecting their second child in early 2023. Murgatroyd is expected in June. They share one child, Shai, who was born in 2017.

Peta Murgatroyd previously revealed she was “skeptical”.

Peta Murgatroyd has been open about her infertility journey and her IVF hopes throughout the process, although she shared that she had given up hope of going on her second round of IVF.

“I literally prayed to the gods about it, but it’s so funny because I was at a point where I allowed it [the idea of pregnancy] go,” she said people in January 2023. “I was just about to call. I had called the IVF doctor to start my second round again and I had let it go. As in I thought, ‘If I’m a one-time mom, if I have a child for the rest of my life, I have to be happy with that.’ ”

She added that she was “skeptical” about her pregnancy and would share it with others.

In an Instagram post When Murgatroyd announced her pregnancy, she shared that she and her husband went through “two years of constant struggle and heartache” as well as “three miscarriages and one failed embryo transfer.”

Murgatroyd would love her husband to judge Dancing With the Stars

Murgatroyd shared that she would love for her husband to return as a judge on the show on Dancing With the Stars. In a March 9, 2023 interview with The US sunMurgatroyd revealed that she believes Chmerkovskiy would be “right” for the role.

“Maks is a character in her own right,” she told the outlet. “He is very lovable. He says what he thinks. I think it’s the perfect role for him. I think it would be a great place for him, you know, to be across from Derek [Hough] as well as.”

She added, “They’re very different, and I think they’re great friends, and it would also be amazing to see the different dynamics of what they would see everyone dancing and what they would kind of get into.”

Len Goodman was a judge on the show for 30 seasons, but he announced his retirement during the 31st season of the competition. There have been no official announcements as to whether he will be replaced, but it is likely that the judges for the upcoming season will be Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough.

Dancing With the Stars is slated to return to Disney+ in fall 2023.
