January is Walk Your Dog Month – a whole month dedicated to getting our furry friends outside and enjoying a walk.
With many people marking the start of the New Year with New Year’s resolutions to get fitter and exercise more, what better way to improve your well-being – and that of your dog – than by enjoying the great outdoors?
Earlier this month we asked you to share photos of your dogs taking their favorite walks.
Carr Mill Dam, Billinge Hill and Newton Park were popular destinations, as was Havannah Flash towards Blackbrook, Clinkham Woods and Sankey Valley Park.
Walks in the woods of Cromdale Grove and Daisyfield were also favorites with some dogs.
A recent study by outdoor retailer GO Outdoors and mental health charity Mind found that almost half of Britons (49%) have experienced problems with their mental health, with 61% agreeing that being outdoors is what makes them most comfortable .
And more than half of dog owners in the UK (56%) say they find outdoor activities with their dogs more enjoyable.
Here are some of your four-legged friends out for a walk – running through fields and forests and splashing in muddy puddles.
