Playboy Digital launches creator “bunnies” to release adult content

Playboy is relaunching its iconic magazine as a digital first as the brand seeks to compete with OnlyFans.
The revamped magazine, which ceased printing in 2020 due to financial issues, will be officially released later this year.
The online format for the magazine gives users access to the brand’s “Creator Platform,” which the company aims to brand as an “upscale,” “safe,” and “exclusive” alternative to OnlyFans.
Instead of the brand’s signature “bunnies,” users can now interact with “creators,” who post adult content on their pages and give subscribers exclusive access to their lives, in addition to posing for the magazine’s digital covers.

Amanda Cerny, a comedian and model who became a Playmate in 2011, will be the outlet’s first digital cover model. The creator made more than $1 million as a Playboy model during the brand’s beta launch of the platform, dubbing her “Centerfold.”
Cerny’s cover shoot celebrates the brand’s platinum anniversary and uses CGI and a variety of innovative, futuristic outfits.
Like OnlyFans, the Playboy platform — which will no longer be called Centerfold — will allow models to cultivate paying subscribers to chat with.
Rachel Webber, the company’s chief brand officer, told the New York Post, “Our Playboy Creator platform is Playboy magazine for the 21st century.”
“We’re putting the power of content creation in the hands of the creative community, giving them the tools to engage directly with their fan bases and monetize them.”
A key difference between the new OnlyFans and Playboy feature is that while anyone can sign up to become an OnlyFans creator, Playboy creators must apply and be accepted by the outlet’s editorial team.
As with OnlyFans, users can subscribe to adult content and pay to view adult content and interact with the women who create it. Some who pay are also granted “access” to the models’ daily lies.
Ben Kohn, the company’s CEO, said he hopes the interjections from Playboy creators will disrupt the current creator ecosystem in much the same way “Playboy magazine shook up the publishing industry nearly 70 years ago.”
After printing the final cover in March 2020, the magazine hired 25 employees.
The new digital magazine, the company said, will feature essays by authors and content about what it’s like to be a part of Playboy.

Ben Kohn, the company’s CEO, said he hopes the interjections from Playboy creators will disrupt the current creator ecosystem in a similar way that “Playboy magazine shook up the publishing industry nearly 70 years ago.”

Unlike OnlyFans, which allows creators to share hardcore pornography, Playboy focuses more on nudity and photography, similar to the magazine’s classic style.
Former Bachelor Australia star Megan Marx has become one of the top creators on the new Playboy site.
Two weeks after joining, she was named “Centerfold of the Day” and became the top trending model on the site.
Last week, Marx was ahead of adult entertainment star Lana Rhoades, cover girl Amanda Cerny and TikTok star Nasir Milian.
Megan has previously appeared topless on the cover of Australia’s Maxim magazine alongside fellow Bachelor star Tiffany Scanlon, with whom she was in a lesbian relationship at the time.
In addition to the brand’s new content facet, Playboy recently acquired Australian lingerie giant Honey Birdette.
