Pointe Coupee Mardi Gras Parade of fun for the whole family

NEW ROADS, La (BRPROUD) – Thousands of people flocked to the family-friendly on Mardi Gras Carnival parade of the community center into new ways.
“It’s very family-oriented, as you can see,” said Laurice Harrison, parade-goer.
Ribbons, floats and throws were just a few of the fun options on offer at the annual event.
“We just enjoy the time with the kids, we pack a lunch, bring some games, we draw artwork with the chalk on the sidewalk,” said Gaeanne Gravois, a parade-goer, with her children by her side.
People of all ages enjoyed the event, including 73-year-old Mary Jarreau, who said she attends the community center’s carnival parade every year and has just as much fun as the kids.
Surrounded by her grandchildren and grinning from ear to ear, Jarreau told BRProud, “I’m not going to miss this because it’s my bucket list.”
Even one of the parade founder’s granddaughters flew in from abroad to enjoy her grandfather’s legacy.
“My grandfather started the parade 101 years ago, Jimmy Boudreaux,” said Gloria Boudreaux. “It’s fantastic! It’s different from the horse and carriage he had all those years ago.”
In addition to the festive atmosphere, there was delicious food on almost every corner. Whether food truck or barbecue, nobody went hungry.
Some people, like Tommy Manning, even jumped at the opportunity.
Manning said, “I have my child. So, when I had a kid, I didn’t go to New Orleans…we come here and kind of hang out. tailgate.”
At the end of the day, there was only one last word to say, and Jarreau put it best: “Happy Mardi Gras, everyone!”
