Police arrest suspects who beat driver and shot car with toddler inside

Texas police arrested a man and woman Tuesday after a traffic incident that resulted in physical assaults and gunshots. Officials booked Benjamin Greene and Nazly Ortiz into the Harris County Jail while awaiting the outcome of the assault charges.

Corresponding abc13, The shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon on the North Freeway near 1960. A man was driving north in a silver car with his two-year-old when a truck followed them as they pulled out. per Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

After both vehicles came to a stop, Benjamin got out of the truck, approached the other vehicle and allegedly attacked the driver. The driver reportedly attempted to leave the scene, but Nazly also got out of the truck with more heat for the victim.

A nearby driver began recording the incident. The video, which has been widely shared on social platforms, shows Nazly holding a gun. As the victim broke away and Benjamin tried to grab the side of the car, Nazly raised the gun. She then fired a shot into the right rear seat window of the victim’s car.

But the shot did little to slow the victim. As he rounded the corner, Nazly ran to the other side of the truck. The video shows Benjamin trying to get her attention, even signaling for her to get in the truck. Instead, Nazly raised the gun again and fired another shot. Still holding the gun, she let her arm drop to her side. At this point, Benjamin tries to grab her by the waist. They both rush to grab items from the street before running to their truck to climb inside.

Victim treated for minor wound – Suspects charged with assault

Nazly’s second shot hit a dealership on the corner where the victim turned. However, no one was injured inside. Thankfully, the outcome was the same for both the man who was attacked and the two-year-old in the car. The man was treated for an abrasion, but he is “in good condition”. ABC13 Reporting.

Sheriff Gonzalez said Nazly faces aggravated assault charges. Benjamin’s charge is only assault.
