Police searching for the boyfriend of an aristocrat sex offender raise fears for their newborn baby

Police continue their search for a missing aristocrat and her abusive boyfriend as fear mounts for her newborn baby.
Constance Marten, 35, and Mark Gordon, 48, went missing with their baby on January 5 but are believed to have been camping in the Sussex countryside.
It has now been a month since the two disappeared with their baby after a car was found on fire on the hard shoulder of the M61.
Increasingly concerned about the newborn, officers ask Gordon and Marten to let them know they are safe.
Police said “finding the baby remains our top priority” as they are “increasingly concerned” for his well-being.

Officers are growing concerned about the newborn and are asking Gordon and Marten, 35, and Mark Gordon to let them know they are safe
Addressing Marten and Gordon directly, Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford said: “Constance and Mark, your baby has been exposed to the elements for the first month of his short life when he should be safe, warm and most importantly seen by medical professionals.
‘You’ll run out of money in a month. Please pick up the phone and at least let us know that you are fine. We are ready to come to you and ensure that you and the baby receive medical care.’
Commenting on authorities’ concerns for the child, Det Supt Basford added: “For the past month, Mark, Constance and their newborn have been traveling continuously in sub-zero temperatures without medical attention and we are increasingly concerned for their well-being.
“We know the baby was alive on January 8 and finding the baby remains our top priority. Maybe you have information but didn’t want to come forward to help us locate the family. It doesn’t matter why you didn’t speak to us sooner, what matters now is to do what is right for this highly vulnerable infant.
Officials are also again appealing to the public for £10,000 in information as they have growing concerns for their wellbeing.
“Previous appeals have resulted in around 300 calls from members of the public, but unfortunately they have not resulted in the couple and their baby being located,” Det Supt Basford said.
“While we are very grateful to everyone who has already called, we are yet to hear from anyone who has seen the couple since Sunday 8 January and we are offering a reward of up to £10,000 for any information provided found to lead to the existence of the family.
“I appeal in particular to people who may have spent time in the countryside near Newhaven and elsewhere in Sussex to think carefully about whether they have seen Constance and Mark in the past four weeks. Given the time that has passed, they may have traveled further, so I need to hear from anyone who may have seen them further away as well.

Police released this picture of Marten and Gordon outside East Ham train station around 11.45am on Saturday 7 January

Marten is believed to have been spotted wrapped in a red blanket around 9am on Saturday in Harwich Port, Essex
Police believe they have tracked Marten and Gordon to Newhaven in East Sussex.
Detectives said they were dropped off in a taxi just outside the port entrance at 4.56am on Sunday 8 January.
The two then walked with their baby to where the A259 crosses the B2109. They were seen around 6am sheltering from the rain under the overpass.
About 15 minutes later they both walked down Cantercrow Hill into the fields beyond early Sunday morning. They carried a set of bags and their blue tent.
Officials now believe they camped in the area but may have moved a considerable distance now.
However, they were no longer in possession of the pram they were previously seen using, having left it at Flower and Dean Walk, E1 at 11.46pm on 7 January.

It goes without saying that Constance Martens comes from a privileged background. She was raised privately and comes from an aristocratic family with royal connections.
At the age of 21, she was named “Babe of the Month” by society magazine Tatler.
Gordon was born in Birmingham. In 1989 he moved to the United States with his mother and half-siblings when he was a child.
That same year, at the age of 14, Gordon armed himself with pruning shears and a kitchen knife and attacked his neighbor in a four and a half hour ordeal during which he took her hostage and sexually abused her.
Documents show that two young children were sleeping in the room next door at the time of the attack.
US court records describe how Gordon allegedly broke through the woman’s bathroom window before finding a pair of her stockings, which he used as a makeshift mask to cover his face.
After meeting his victim, the documents say, “The suspect ordered the victim to return to the bedroom and, still armed, asked the victim to undress.”
He then sexually assaulted and raped the victim.
There were a total of six charges against Gordon in connection with the April 29 attack: one charge of armed kidnapping, four separate charges of armed sexual assault, and one charge of burglary with a deadly weapon. He was convicted on all charges.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the family is asked to contact the operations center on 020 7175 0785.
Alternatively, information can be reported 100 percent anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask for personal information and do not track your device.
