Pope Francis has asked forgiveness for Roman Catholic involvement in Canada’s boarding school system. His heartfelt regret may bring some reconciliation to the indigenous people affected by this disturbing part of my country’s history and to the many Canadians who are frustrated, saddened and embarrassed by it.
