With Celtic immediately focused on tonight’s game against Rangers, Ange Postecoglou wants to take a close look at the club’s future stars.
The Bhoys are hoping to get closer to a domestic treble by beating Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-finals today.
For Postecoglou to get closer to that goal in his first season as a Celtic coach is a monumental achievement.
However, the Aussie manager appears to already have plans for the pre-season and shows no signs of taking his foot off the pedal.
The sports report that three youngsters from Celtic are competing for first-team roles in pre-season.
Goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi has been in first-team training this season and is expected to be involved in pre-season.
It is claimed that Celtic do indeed believe Oluwayemi – formerly at Tottenham Hotspur – could be the long-term replacement for Joe Hart.
Oluwayemi is only 18 so first-team hopes are still a long way off but he could have a chance to shine in preseason.
Defender Bosun Lawal is expected to be involved less than a year after joining Celtic from Watford.
Another 18-year-old, Lawal is one of Ireland’s brightest young talents and has admitted he is understands comparisons with Virgil van Dijk.
This is hugely exciting for Celtic fans who want to keep a close eye on Lawal in the summer.
The last named prospect is midfielder Ben Summers, who is even younger at just 17.
While Oluwayemi and Lawal have been acquired by English clubs, Summers is a Scottish talent with great potential to become a homegrown star.
Dubbed the ‘pressing machine’, Summers is a big hope at Celtic and will soon have a chance to shine under Postecoglou.
This will be a great opportunity for all three players and who knows how far they can go if they impress?
Having recently lost Ben Doak to Liverpool, it’s exactly what fans want to hear that Celtic have big plans for their top young talent.
