Price-fixing against Chicken Company officials ends in another mistrial

The US Department of Justice’s efforts to prosecute alleged price-fixing in the poultry industry suffered a major setback after a second trial in the government’s high-profile case against senior chicken company officials.

A jury at a federal court in Denver was unable to reach a verdict Tuesday after days of deliberations in a month-long trial. Prosecutors failed to convince the full jury that one of the 10 defendants illicitly coordinated among themselves what their companies would charge to large restaurant buyers for chicken products.
