Priscilla Presley said a tearful goodbye to her daughter Lisa Marie Presley during her eulogy. During a quick message she shared at her daughter’s memorial, she read a poem written by one of her granddaughters.

Priscilla Presley read the poem of one of her granddaughters during her eulogy at Lisa Marie Presley’s funeral service on Sunday, April 22. CNN reported.

The letter read, in part, “She knew it was nearing the end. The guilt of the survivors, some would say, but a broken heart is the very act of their death. Now she’s home where she always belonged, but my heart misses her love.”

Lisa Marie’s son, Benjamin Keough, died by suicide in 2020. She leaves behind three daughters: Riley Keough, 33, and twins Finley and Harper Lockwood, 14. Lisa Marie was buried at Graceland next to Benjamin.

Priscilla burst into tears as she read the poem, people have reported. She continued, reading: “She knew I loved her. I fear I would never touch her. But the old soul is always with me. It’s not floating.” That says it all, and thank you all for being here… Our hearts are broken. Lisa, we all love you.”

Family friends also spoke at the memorial service, which took place on the Graceland Mansion lawn, including Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York; Joel Winshanker, the managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises; former Mayor of Memphis, AC Wharton; and manager Jerry Schilling, CNN reported.

Riley Keough’s husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, read a letter Keough wrote during the memorial service, CNN reported.

“Thank you for showing me that love is the only thing that matters in this life,” he read. “I hope I can love my daughter like you loved me.”

Thousands attended the memorial service

Thousands attended the public memorial to say goodbye to Lisa Marie, people have reported. At least 5,000 people were expected and lined up an hour before the scheduled start of the memorial service.

The program described the memorial as a “celebration of life” and began with Jason Clark and the Tennessee Mass Choir performing “Amazing Grace,” People reported.

After the memorial service, family and close friends first paid their respects to Lisa Marie in the meditation garden where she was buried. Then fans were allowed to visit and leave their own flowers.

Riley Siegfried, a Texas fan, told People that the memorial was “such an amazing ceremony with the music and the different celebrities showing up and sharing their stories. It was very impressive and beautiful.”

Lisa Marie, daughter of Priscilla and Elvis Presley, died at the age of 54 after suffering a cardiac arrest. people have reported. TMZ reports that her housekeeper found her unresponsive and that her ex-husband, Danny Keough, had performed CPR by the time paramedics arrived. She later died at a local hospital.

After her daughter’s death, Priscilla asked for privacy and thanked everyone who had prayed for Lisa Marie, people have reported.

Priscilla Presley has appeared in two Hallmark films: Wedding at Graceland, starring Kellie Pickler and Wes Brown in 2019, and Christmas at Graceland: Home for the Holidays, starring Kaitlin Doubleday, Adrian Grenier and Chase Bryant in 2019.
