Prison City gameplay

New gameplay has been shared for Prison city, a side-scrolling shooter for Switch. We take a look at the prologue, the turn sequence and more.

As for the title itself, here’s what you can expect:

Prison City is an action-packed side-scrolling shooter where players use chakrams and grenades to fight their way through various levels, defeat bosses and uncover hidden upgrades. The game features customizable gameplay and difficulty, a “Boss Rush” mode where players can compete for the best time, and an excellent retro soundtrack by Raddland Studios.

Prison City is full of references and homages to classic action movies and games from the ’80s and ’90s, including iconic one-liners, memorable characters, and familiar gameplay mechanics. Fans of the action genre will feel right at home here.

Players fight their way through an entire city, battling through eight or more zones ranging from sewers and factories to nature reserves. Each zone offers its own unique challenges, from environmental hazards to powerful bosses that will test your skills.

The crime-ridden and crumbling city of Detroit was evacuated in 1995 and turned into an impenetrable mega-prison. In the present day (1997), an evil group has infiltrated and taken control. Former police officer Hal Bruzer is called out of retirement by his mentor “The Chief” to hunt down the “techno-terrorists” and their appointed overseers… to hopefully bring back the “spirit” of Detroit!!
