As many gamers already know, Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass has proven incredibly popular, accumulating millions of users.
You may also have heard that Project Spartacus will be launched by Sony later this year to rival the service on PS5 and PS4. However, a new report suggests that PlayStation Game Pass will be missing a crucial feature that sets the Xbox service apart.
Here’s what we know about Project Spartacus so far, and what might be revealed later this month.

Project Spartacus Missing Game Pass feature
according to a new report from Bloomberg, Project Spartacus will be revealed by Sony very soon and could possibly be announced later this week. While no set date has been announced as to when this might happen, details about the service have been leaked early. The rumored release date for the PlayStation Game Pass competitor – codenamed Spartacus – is Spring 2022, with several different tiers.
The first will be the regular PS Plus service, which is already available and the price is not expected to change. As for the second tier, this will reportedly include the PS Plus perks with a wide range of PS4 games and eventually PS5 free. This could potentially replace PS Now at £8.99 a month.
Finally, the third tier will reportedly include all of the above plus backwards compatibility for PS3, PS2, PS1 and PSP games. While nothing has been confirmed, this could potentially combine the current monthly fees of PS Plus and PS Now to £15.99. But the only feature not included is the one that allows players to play new PlayStation exclusives on the day of their release.
This comes straight from the latest Bloomberg report and means that while pricing will be similar between services, the value for money still favors Xbox Game Pass. This latest report should be taken with a pinch of salt until we find out more from Sony, but this will remain interesting news for gamers awaiting the reveal.
