They say that every family is unhappy in its own way. The problem is when this calamity creates a broken entity that takes a young woman as her surrogate daughter and threatens her into a fake domestic life where she’s supposed to be happy.

This is the trailer for Daughter, a film where there’s clearly something really wrong with these people.

This thriller horror movie trailer gets weirder and weirder as time goes on, telling the story of these seemingly isolated people who would do anything to get their “daughter” (Vivien Ngô) back so “the family can be whole again”.

Kidnapping, threats, intimidation, gas masks, an apocalyptic future, a mother who plays the fiddle, mysteries and more mysteries abound. This atmospheric film could prove to be an exhilarating, terrifying ride, full of twists and turns that might borrow a thing or two from other films about trapped women like 10 Cloverfield Lane.

The daughter was nominated at both Frightfest and the Orlando Film Festival, and won Best Picture and Best Actor awards for Casper Van Dien at the sun-drenched Florida festival.

Written and directed by first-time feature director Corey Deshon, the film stars Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Elyse Dinh (Passenger List), Vivien Ngô (Queen Sugar) and Ian Alexander (The OA).

If you are a fan of mystery thrillers, Daughter will be released on streaming platforms on February 10th.
