Jose Enrique is excited at the prospect of Liverpool possibly signing Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer in the summer. as he posted on his Instagram story.
The former Liverpool left-back pointed out that Jurgen Klopp knew the Barcelona striker “very well” from his time at Borussia Dortmund.
In January, there was a lot of controversy surrounding Dembele and his Nou Camp contract situation.
The La Liga giants apparently wanted the 24-year-old to either leave or sign a new contract, in the end he stayed put and his contract expires in the summer.
But he’s since played a huge role in turning things around for Xavi at Barcelona, including seven assists from his last five games.
As things stand, Dembele will leave Catalonia for free and that’s what Enrique said about the possibility of him coming to Anfield.
“What a player that will be for us Reds, and on a free transfer at that,” said Enrique. “Klopp knows him very well.”
Klopp and his Liverpool coaching staff have something of a magic dust on Merseyside when it comes to getting the best out of wide attackers.
Whether it’s helping Mohamed Salah transform himself into one of the best in the world, or surprising many by signing Diogo Jota from Wolves and helping him transform into a goalscoring machine.
Then there’s the arrival of Luis Diaz in January, who has come to life at Liverpool like a duck in water and has delivered performances that have seen Klopp leave some of his big stars on the bench.
While many would be put off by bringing Dembele to the club, given his struggles since moving to the Nou-Camp with big money, you can easily bet Klopp will make him that £100m player if he adds that World Champion to his all-action system.
