Purely Byron: The skincare brand co-founded by Elsa Pataky and co-owned by Chris Hemsworth goes bankrupt

A skin care brand co-founded by Elsa Pataky and partially owned by her husband Chris Hemsworth has been put into administration.

Purely Byron, named after the NSW coastal town, creates “natural and effective skincare with clinically proven active ingredients”, according to its social media.

It was co-founded by Pataky, a Byron Bay native and Spanish-born actress who lives in the popular holiday destination with her husband and three young children.

This week, the skincare company was placed into receivership, with representatives from bankruptcy service DW Advisory appointed as administrators.

Purely Bryon is 47.4 percent owned by BXW brands, with Hemsworth Byron Bay 1st management owning a 3.2 percent stake, The Australian reports.

Directors Ido Leffler and Lance Kalish each own about 22 percent.

Last week, the brand posted a video of Pataky sharing her simple three-step routine using Purely Byron products on its Instagram page.

She announced last year that she is a co-founder of the brand alongside Jacqueline Rosen Weisz as Managing Director and Kate Norbiato as Brand Director.

Speaking to Purely Byron’s website, Pataky said she first came up with the idea for a skincare brand in 2019 but her plans were halted during the Covid lockdown.

In 2021, the team began testing products and planning their launch, with the actress naturally becoming the face of the Byron-born brand.

In June 2022, Purely Byron launched a moisturizer, dermaroller and Divine Ritual balm, which were quickly followed by masks, serums and eye creams.

Less than nine months later, however, the brand was put into administration.

There’s more to come.
