R. Kelly was sentenced to 20 years in prison and was not released until he was 80

On Thursday, R kelly was sentenced to 20 years in prison for child pornography and enticement of minors, but avoided a lengthy extension of a separate 30-year sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking convictions.
That means the Grammy winner could potentially be a free man again, despite being said to be around 80 years old Associated Press.

Prosecutors had asked Judge Harry Leinenweber to sentence the 56-year-old to 25 years and only serve him after he had served his previous sentence.
That means he would essentially be sent to prison for life.
They cited Kelly’s apparent lack of remorse as he looked bored and listless with the proceedings. Prosecutors also determined the seriousness of the crimes and had hoped the judge would have taken that into account when sentencing Kelly.

Kelly’s lawyer is pleased with the judge’s decision: “It’s the right result”
Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, said she was very pleased with the judge’s decision.
“It’s the right result,” she told reporters after Thursday’s hearing. “The judge was reasonable. He, I think, considered both sides and was fair in the end.”
Bonjean also addressed Kelly’s silence in the courtroom, claiming it should not be taken as a lack of remorse.
She went on to say that Kelly was “very happy” to speak to the press, but advised him against it as he continues to appeal his convictions.
