In March 2022, Andy Cohen announced in an interview with diversity that “The Real Housewives of New York” would look a little different in the coming seasons: The network decided to split the franchise into two separate shows, one with an all-new cast of women and one with “old” cast members like Dorinda Medley and Sonya Morgan. Another original member of the Real Housewives of New York will not be returning to the franchise
Ramona Singer isn’t the only woman who has no plans to return to new legacy spinoff show Real Housewives of New York. When speaking to Us weekly In November 2022, Andy Cohen announced that he also doesn’t think Bethenny Frankel will be coming back.
“One of the great things I loved about the Legacy Wives is that over the years they’ve actually been hanging around when the cameras aren’t rolling,” Cohen told the outlet at the time. “They are really in touch. They overlap in each other’s lives. Bethenny now lives in Connecticut, just living her best life in her own universe. Given what she thinks about the show at this point, I’m not sure it makes any sense at all [for her to return].”
Jill Zarin wants RHONY’s ‘Legacy’ to be ‘successful’
Though the official cast of legacy spinoff The Real Housewives of New York has yet to be announced, Jill Zarin has revealed E! news in April 2022 that she wants the new show to be “successful.”
“I think they need to tell me what they think will make it more successful than it was – what’s different, how are they going to change it – because obviously what they did didn’t work,” Zarin told the outlet Time. “You know, you just want to be on a hit show.”
Zarin continued: “I feel like I would have stayed upstairs. I find it hard to believe that I could top this experience.”
Zarin isn’t the only one who wants the show to be successful. Andy Cohen at BravoCon 2022 spoke to people about the upcoming reboot.
“I think our plan is actually brilliant because we’re allowing people to not just get a whole new reboot of The real housewives of New Yorkwhere, outside of this little stamp area on the Upper East Side, we’re going to tell new stories from these women that we’ve followed for so many years,” Cohen explained.
