“Rock the Block” Season 4 cast
HGTV star Sarah Bäumler went to Instagram on Tuesday, March 12, after the second episode of “Rock the Block” season 4 aired to share a photo of the kitchen and living room spaces of her and husband Bryan Baeumler, who captioned it “The calm after Chaos 🤍” stood.
The Baeumlers are one of two teams who haven’t won a challenge since the second episode (the other being Luxe for Less’ Michel Smith Boyd and Anthony Elle), although fans have been vocal about saying the Baeumlers’ kitchen and living room have set to win challenges, with one fan writing: “WTF 🤬 Your home is by far the best after the kitchen, family room and foyer. PS it’s called Foyer (en francais) 🇨🇦 And I assume you and Bryan will win it all in the end. That’s where I said it. Must be said. Continue. 🙌”
Fans think Rock the Block judges shouldn’t know whose home belongs to whom
Another fan commented on Sarah’s post suggest a possible change the Rock the Block rulebook to ensure the judging is fair by writing: “LOVE the stonework and loved the position of the fireplace, it made perfect sense! I think the Rock the Block judges should NOT know who owns the house lest favoritism occur. Especially since some of the renovators have been judges in the past.”
Two contestants this season, Jonathan Knight (who works with his ‘Farmhouse Fixer’ partner Kristina Crestin) and Page Turner (who dates her ‘Fix My Flip’ partner Mitch Glew), are featured as Rock the Block – judges in the past and familiarize them with the show. Although in Berthoud, Colorado, both teams have equal budgets and identical homes to renovate, the playing field is level, but both teams with a former “Rock the Block” judge are the only ones to win after the second episode starring Knight and Crestin have to win the duel in the kitchen and Turner and Glew have to win the duel in the living room.
One fan responded to the proposed rule change, noting that Knight and Crestin’s win was awarded by Jenny and Dave Marrs, who were voted (along with his brother) by Knight to the winners of the Kitchen duel on their season of “Rock the Block.” “ were appointed Jordan). This fan wrote, “As much as I love Jenny and Dave I feel like they gave Jonathan the kitchen prize because they are such good friends.”
Another Rock the Block fan shared a similar idea on a Rock the Block fan page on Facebook. in a comment dated March 12, “to make this a fair competition for the best designer with the most added value…the judges shouldn’t know who designed each home until they announce the winner in the finals.” I love observing all the ideas and talent, but some tend to customize these homes based on their own personal lifestyle. Good, bad or indifferent should remain in the eyes of the jury, who have no personal ties to any of the designers.”
Bryan Baeumler is holding his own home renovation competition
In addition to participating in “Rock the Block,” Bryan Baeumler is the host of his own similar show called “renovation resort”, which was produced and currently aired by HGTV Canada. In Renovation Resort, four teams of two are given identical waterfront cabins in Southern Ontario and must compete to renovate their cabin ahead of peak rental season, where the highest value renovation wins the $100,000 grand prize.
In addition to presenting the competition with his co-host Scott McGillivray, Baeumler and McGillivray will act as judges. Although Renovation Resort is not currently available in the United States, McGillivray confirmed he would soon share some news about it.
“Rock the Block” airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on HGTV and Discovery+.
