After playing for seven years in Invictus Gaming, Song “Rookie” Eui-jin joined Victory Five. In early December, Invictus Gaming announced that Rookie had become a free agent, although they were still negotiating with him. However, Invictus Gaming was soon fully released, thanks to Rookie for his journey with the team. On December 23, Victory Five officially announced through Weibo that they had acquired Rookie.

Since debuting KT Rolster in 2013, Rookie has been known as one of the best mid laners in the world. After moving to the LPL with Invictus Gaming in late 2014, he reached the pinnacle of his career in 2018 when he won the World Championship. 2021 was a difficult year for him, as it was the first time he failed to make it to the knockout stages since he joined Invictus Gaming.

Victory Five has not achieved much success during its years of operation in the LoL Esports arena. As of 2019, their highest achievement is 5th in the 2020 LPL Summer Qualifiers. In 2021, Victory Five are 12th and 17th respectively in the spring and summer. Over the next year, they’re headed for a big change by signing one of the hottest mid laners right now, Rookie, along with veteran jungler, Hung “Karsa” Hao-Hsuan.
