Everton suffered a 1-2 defeat to bottom-placed Norwich City on Saturday afternoon, a match that saw club supporters clamoring for Benitez’s head.
The away fans have made their feelings clear in the stands and now they may be granted their wish.
Sports sky reports that Everton have held an emergency meeting regarding Benitez’s future after that Norwich loss, and he is now ready for a tight fit.
Keane didn’t take any punches when he was told about those rumors, as he shared his thoughts on the Toffees in general.
Keane said: “Every time I’ve played against Everton, over the last few months, I have to be right, it’s not been a good dressing room.
“Yes, they have some good players who will appear again and again, which is not good for a big club like Everton.
“Obviously, Rafa Benitez will pay the price in the end if they keep losing and they can do it tonight.
“But I got the impression that something was missing from that football club, whether it was the culture, the lack of bravery or the leaders at the club. I know Seamus Coleman, he’s a nice guy. But it’s not a good dressing room.”
It won’t surprise many people that Benitez is headed for the exit after just half a season with the team, but that is the Toffees’ next case.
While Benitez has made Everton much worse than when he first joined, the problems stem from the Spaniard.
From those sitting in the boardroom to the players off the pitch, it looked like Everton needed a top-to-bottom refresh.
It took Everton around £500m to put themselves in this mess, which is one of the biggest problems and it’s scary to think what they will have to do to get out of it.
