Russia will use a Poseidon missile to obliterate Britain if NATO troops gain a foothold in Ukraine

Russian state media have urged Vladimir Putin to use his underwater nuclear missile to wipe Britain off the map with a 1,000-foot radioactive tsunami if NATO troops establish a foothold in Ukraine.

Retired Russian General Yevgeny Buzhinsky called for attacks on Britain with a Poseidon underwater missile, which he said would unleash a 1,000-foot radioactive tidal wave.

Lt. Gen. Buzhinsky, chairman of the Russian Center for Political Research, said Britain “definitely will not exist” if Russia unleashed nuclear missile wrath.

Buzhinsky also threatened Britain with an attack by the 14-story Sarmat 2, Russia’s largest nuclear missile, which he claimed would destroy the country.

Vladimir Solovyov, known as “Putin’s voice,” chuckled when he said there would be a “tsunami” if the Poseidon underwater drone hit Britain.

Vladimir Solovyov, known as “Putin’s voice,” chuckled when he said there would be a “tsunami” if the Poseidon underwater drone hit Britain.

The warnings came as Putin’s propagandists debated Russia’s military options after it failed to make significant progress in Ukraine.

What is Russia’s nuclear-armed Poseidon torpedo?

Poseidon is a Russian nuclear weapon currently in development that is a hybrid of a torpedo and a drone.

Moscow claims it is unstoppable by current nuclear defenses and can be used to destroy coastal cities or blow up aircraft carriers and their battle groups.

Poseidon consists of a 65-foot tube nearly 6 feet in diameter that can be carried by specially adapted submarines and launched like a torpedo.

Once launched, it behaves like a drone and can be remotely guided to its target.

However, the tube is said to contain a nuclear reactor, which theoretically gives the drone unlimited range if it flies to its target on a preset course.

In order for an operator to control the drone, it would have to stay within range of some kind of control tower.

It is believed that Poseidon is capable of moving at speeds of up to 185 km/h, which would allow it to outrun any torpedoes that could be used to destroy it.

It is also believed to be able to dive to depths of 1km, which would also put it beyond the range of current torpedoes.

While the exact payload is unknown, the size of the nuclear warhead seen in leaked designs suggests it could have a yield of up to 100 megatons.

That would make Poseidon roughly twice as powerful as the Tsar Bomba – the largest atomic bomb ever built – which when tested in 1961 obliterated everything within a radius of 60 miles and shattered the windows of buildings up to 560 miles away.

Buzhinsky also claimed to Russia’s state television channel Rossiya 1 that the “unstoppable” hypersonic Zircon missile, capable of traveling at 6,670 miles per hour, was “about to be used in combat operations” after the test.

“Of course there are such means as Poseidon, which has been tested,” said Buzhinsky.

A grinning Solovyov replied, “I’d love to see how Poseidon works, I’d love to see Sarmat in action.”

“Tsunami, tsunami, yes, tsunami,” the pro-war Buzhinsky replied. ‘[If NATO] sends troops, it will end up with [us using] Poseidon, of course, and a tsunami. And 300 meters [985ft] high waves.’

Solovyov interjected: “Britain will not exist then.” Buzhinsky, 72, agreed, insisting: “Britain definitely will not exist.”

Margarita Simonyan, head of the RT propaganda empire, added: “Britain will not be there.” It would drown “immediately”, she said.

The propagandists’ statements follow a pattern that has developed in Russian state media since the start of the Ukraine war of threatening Britain with a nuclear holocaust.

The threats are believed to be the result of Britain’s firm support for Ukraine, which became the first NATO country to announce it would send 14 next-generation main battle tanks in the form of Challenger 2 tanks to the war-torn country.

Bushinsky was furious that Putin’s rocket bombing of Ukraine hadn’t gone far enough.

“Of course, six rockets can’t reach the turning point,” he said. It should be 60 better [missiles]. Or even better 600.’

Putin sees the Poseidon as the key to his ultimate military dominance over the West, it has been reported.

Another propagandist, Dmitry Kiselyov, previously threatened that the Poseidon would “approach the target at a depth of one kilometer at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour [125mph].

“There’s no way to stop this underwater drone,” he said on state television last year. “It has a warhead with a capacity of up to 100 megatons. The explosion of this thermonuclear torpedo near the British coast will create a huge wave, a tsunami.’

He said: “This tidal wave is also a carrier of extremely high doses of radiation.

“If it sweeps across Britain it will turn what is likely left of them into a radioactive desert. Permanently useless for anything.”

It comes as Russia continues to suffer heavy casualties on the front lines, which has forced Putin to do so he’s desperately emptying Russian museums of obsolete tanks to recycle in his thrashing war effort.

Footage shows aging Soviet-era T-62s being “modernized” at a 24-hour factory in Chita, Siberia.

The effort to retrofit decades-old tanks shows the desperation of Putin’s military machine – while Ukraine is being supplied with the most modern western tanks.

At the front, Ukrainian soldiers said Monday they were repelling attacks near Kreminna north of Bakhmut.

In a forest about 5 miles from the front, cannons roared and in the distance explosions rumbled steadily.

“Two or three weeks ago the fighting was at its peak, but it’s calmed down a bit,” said Mykhailo Anest, a 35-year-old paramedic. “There is a lot of artillery and mortar fire.”

Trench warfare, dubbed a meat grinder by both sides, has taken a huge toll at Bakhmut in Donetsk, with both sides reporting hundreds of enemy troops killed.

Russia launched five rocket attacks, 35 airstrikes and 76 heavy missile system attacks last day, including on civilian infrastructure in the Sumy and Donetsk regions, Ukraine’s military said early Wednesday.

Ukrainian forces repelled attacks on seven settlements on the Bakhmut front, she added.

Russia says taking Bakhmut would open a way to capture all of Donetsk, a key war objective. Ukraine, which has opted to defend Bakhmut rather than retreat, says the Russian military’s exhaustion will now help its counteroffensive.

But not every military analyst is convinced that defending Bakhmut is the best strategy for Ukraine.

Ukraine suffered losses in reserves it planned to use in a later push against Russian forces, Ukrainian military analyst Oleh Zhdanov said in an interview. “We could lose everything we wanted to use for these counter-offensives here.”
