Russian missile attack kills dozens at train station in eastern Ukraine

A Russian missile attack on a train station in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk killed 50 and wounded nearly 100 as they tried to flee the eastern Donbass region, Ukrainian authorities said on Friday, in one of the largest single attacks on evacuees since it began of the conflict.

Around 4,000 people from across eastern Ukraine had gathered at the train station, a rail hub for the region, waiting days to be evacuated after Ukrainian officials told residents to leave ahead of another Russian offensive in Donbass. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Tochka-U ballistic missile hit the station. Photos posted by Mr. Zelensky to social media showed bodies scattered on the ground and dozens of abandoned suitcases, prams and bags.
