Ryan Edwards returns to Teen Mom with Maci Bookout

Teen Mom stars Ryan Edwards and Maci Bookout face each other for the first time in years.

Embattled MTV star Ryan Edwards returned to Teen Mom to film Aftermath for Season 2 of Family Reunion. The father-of-three didn’t attend the entire season with his ex-girlfriend Maci Bookout, but the reunion preview showed Edwards and Bookout sitting in front of the camera together for the first time in years.

“It’s finally happening,” Teen Mom host Nessa Diab told an MTV camera. “Maci and Ryan together on the couch.”

“Ryan, why didn’t you want to go to the ‘family reunion’?” asks Diab Edwards.

The clip is short but appears to have been emotional for Edwards and Bookout, who share a 14-year-old son, Bentley. The Tennessee natives looked like they were holding back tears in the clips that MTV showed. Bookout looks down and frowns, and Edwards purses his lips and fidgets in his place on the couch.

Edwards wore a taupe long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans. His hair is all gray – as was the case with Eyras – and cropped short.

Bookout wore her hair loose and ruffled and opted for a black sleeveless shirt.

Based on the preview for The Aftermath, it wasn’t clear if Edwards and Bookout were joined by their spouses, Mackenzie Standifer and Taylor McKinney, respectively.

The episode was filmed prior to Edward’s arrest on February 10, where he was charged with molestation, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance after authorities discovered he had an active warrant issued for him by the Chatanooga Police Department became. according to a press release issued by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

He had fallen out with his wife and made two derogatory social media posts about Standifer. One was shared via Instagram on January 29th and the other was posted on Instagram on February 9th. The first was a comment under one of Standifer’s posts, accusing her of cheating and threatening to divorce her. The second was a picture of her wears a leather jacket and nothing else. He also accused her of cheating in that post.

Standifer went to police to let them know about the picture, and although authorities said in a press release that the picture was “revealing,” they didn’t say it contained nudity.

Edwards was not arrested for the social media activity, but rather on the pre-existing warrant and for violating a protective order, which was overturned by Standifer the day before the intimate photo of her was posted to Instagram.

Stanfider has not publicly responded to Edwards’ arrest or to Heavy’s request for comment.

Sandifer and Edwards – who have been married since 2017 – share two children, 4-year-old Jagger and 3-year-old Stella.

Larry Edwards accused Bookout of “rigging” Bentley

Edwards and Standifer have not appeared on Teen Mom since their release in 2021. Before that, they stopped filming segments with McKinney and Bookout mutual injunctions were granted in 2018.

Bookout filmed with Edwards’ parents — Jen and Larry Edwards — but that ended after they blew up at McKinney’s 2021 reunion. McKinney claimed they spoiled Edwards and were hard on Bentley.

Though her relationship with Edwards had been strained for years, Bookout always had a stable connection with his parents, so she was surprised to hear they thought she was “manipulating” Bentley.

“Seeing that show and kind of hearing and seeing how they felt was kind of shocking to me,” she said during the reunion. “I didn’t realize that [they had] feelings and believe that I am manipulating Bentley or that we are manipulating Bentley. I didn’t know it existed. I didn’t know you all felt this way.”

Bookout was afraid to let Bentley around his father, fearing he might end up in an “unsafe” situation. The assumption that Jen and Larry Edwards would allow anything harmful to happen to Bentley under their watch enraged the Edwards patriarch.

“That would never happen, ever,” Larry Edwards said, sitting on the edge of his seat.

McKinney then got on the edge of his seat and told Larry Edwards to stop “forcing” Bentley to have a relationship with his father.

Standifer blamed Bookout for the firing

During an interview after Stanfider and Edwards were fired from Teen Mom, Standifer recounted “Without Crystal Ball” that Bookout was in control of their livelihood in relation to MTV.

“The truth is, she’s in charge here. This is her mission. It is what it is. It’s fine,” Standifer said in March 2021.

But the mother-of-three, who has an 8-year-old son, Hudson, from a previous relationship, said she was “relieved” not to be on the reality show anymore.

“It’s almost like a load is lifted off my shoulders,” she told Crystal Ball Free. “I deserve to feel good, I deserve not to be plagued by anxiety all the time.”

Before MTV fired Edwards and Standifer in 2021, they briefly left the show in 2018 amid Edwards’ battle with addiction and trouble with the law. He was arrested that same year Heroin-related allegations And missed the birth his son Jagger because he was in rehab.

“We’re not going back to ‘Teen Mom’ this season. The network told us they don’t want to show Ryan as a recovering addict,” Standifer said E! News in 2018. “But they wanted to contract our unborn baby and have the baby filmed with Ryan’s parents to make it look like someone else was raising it.”

Edwards hinted that MTV wanted to portray him as a villain. “They want me to look angry, passive aggressive and indifferent when it comes to things that mean the most to me. I’m done taking her shit and making the world believe that by standing up for me. he wrote in a 2018 post on Instagram.
