Sakoya Wynter Talks Co-Parenting With Baby Daddy (EXCLUSIVE)

A wise woman once said that children are our future and the cast of WE tv’s Growing up hip hop is a testament to this old African American proverb. Season 7 of the reality TV show, featuring old- and new-school rap and R&B stars, returned in January.

Cast members who have returned this season include Sakoya Wynter, daughter of K-Ci & JoJo’s Jojo Hailey. She made her debut on the series in Season 6. Upon her arrival, she was at the center of controversy. The drama involved her co-star Angela Simmons, who was rumored to have dated Sakoya’s baby daddy.

In an exclusive interview with TurnSakoya addressed the drama with Angela, which surfaced again on the March 2 episode GUHH. Here’s what she said!

Sakoya and her ex, Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jenningswelcomed their son in 2010. While the two have been separated for a decade, Sakoya said they are united in their efforts to raise their nearly 13-year-old son, Legend Truth Jennings.

“My son’s father and I are not dating … we have never been together,” Sakoya said in her interview with Turn. “Co-parenting is definitely where we are right now. We are both very supportive of our son and try to do the best we can as parents.”

“I like to keep the parental side of what I do outside of the show,” she added. “If I decide to share that, it may mess up the dynamic or whatever — I’m not sure. When you’re on TV, you get a lot of attention. And there are many different opinions that come in different ways and can change the way you think about certain things.”

Despite the drama Sakoya finds herself caught up in on the show, she said her relationship with her child’s father is fairly balanced. Although we haven’t seen him yet GUHH So far, Sakoya hasn’t ruled out Brandon appearing in future episodes of the reality series.

“I’m definitely considering it,” Sakoya said of inviting her ex on the show. “My son plays a lot of sports and we’re always at the games and stuff. So it can be one of those events where we’re at a game or his birthday party and his dad shows up.”

“I definitely think that at some point I’ll open up that side of my life for the show,” she added.

However, Brandon joining the show may or may not stir up the alleged beef between Sakoya and her GUHH co-star.

Angela and Brandon were seen together shortly after Sakoya welcomed their son, which was a point of contention between the two in Season 6.

Sakoya gave Turn an exclusive update on her drama with Angela, which she says was the result of a whole lot of “he said she said”. As of this writing, there is no bad blood between the duo.

“Angela and I are cool. We spoke and it was a lot of misunderstandings,” she shared.

“When I spoke to Vanessa, Vanessa cleared it up and she was like, ‘You know what, I don’t even really think they dated,'” Sakoya recalled. “In the end, they weren’t together. So Angela and I are cool. We’re not friends, but we’re definitely cool.”

“I make them big all the time. I’m cheering for Angela.” GUHH star shared.
