Is Sea of Thieves offline?

At the time of writing, the Sea of Thieves servers are live but things will be different before the Season 6 update rolls out. Season 6 will be released on March 10, and before that, the servers of Sea of Thieves will be down. Rare has confirmed that the Sea of Thieves server will be offline from around 10am GMT/11am CET/5am ET/2am Pacific Time on Thursday, March 10.

The developers did not specify how long the server will be offline. That’s nothing out of the ordinary, as Rare never provides an estimate of downtime. But typically, when there are seasonal updates, the downtime can range from one hour to three hours. So you can expect the game to be back up and running around 1pm ET/2pm CET/8am ET/5am PT. And this is a worst case scenario. The Sea of Thieves server may be back up and running sooner.

If you don’t want to constantly turn the game on and off to check if the server is up, use the official server status page. Once the server is back up, you’ll see a green check mark, which means you can immediately jump into the game and enjoy the Sea of Thieves Season 6 content.
