Sean “Diddy” Combs is honored with the Global Icon Award by MTV – The Hollywood Reporter

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been selected for the Global Icon Award at the 2023 Video Music Awards, where he will also perform.
Combs is “honored for his unparalleled career and enduring influence that has resulted in unparalleled global success in music and beyond,” MTV said Tuesday.
He’s also up for four competitive awards this year for his work on Creepin (Remix) and Gotta Move On, including two for Best Collaboration, as well as nominations for Best Rap and Best R&B.
This will be his first VMA appearance since 2005. He first took the VMA stage in 1997 with a performance of “Mo Money Mo Problems,” followed by his medley of 2002’s “Bad Boy for Life” and “Pass the Courvoisier (Part 2).” ‘ and ‘I need a girl (parts 1 and 2)’. He hosted the 2005 VMAs, appearing with Snoop Dogg.
Combs also won the 2997 VMA for Best R&B Video and the 1998 Viewer’s Choice Award.
He recently announced that his latest work, The Love Album: Off the Grid, will be released on September 15th.
As previously announced, other VMA cast members include Anitta, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Lil Wayne, Måneskin, Shakira, Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together. Shakira will receive the Video Vanguard Award and perform live.
The 2023 VMAs will be broadcast live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey on September 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET (delayed PT). The fans vote on the awards.
The show is executive produced by Bruce Gilmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic, with Barb Bialkowski serving as co-executive producer. Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba are executives in charge of production. Wendy Plaut is the celebrity talent executive and Lisa Lauricella is the music talent executive.
