However, with the Season 1 finale set to premiere worldwide in just a few hours, the community is already looking to the future.

Has My Dress-Up Darling been renewed for Season 2?

As previously mentioned, neither CloverWorks nor its associated Japanese distributors have released any confirmation of the production of Season 2 of My Dress-Up Darling. Despite the lack of official news, fans of the hit anime series can rest assured that Marin and Gojo will continue their budding romance in a second broadcast.

This is because CloverWorks has plenty of source material from Shinichi Fukuda’s original manga series for a second anime season, and the show is easily popular enough worldwide to merit renewal.

According to a breakdown from anime geek, Episode 12 of My Dress-Up Darling is expected to cover everything up to Volume 5 of the manga. The good news is that from the 26ththnine complete Tankerbon Volumes have been released in Japan, with the ninth just coming out to domestic readers yesterday.

That means almost enough source material is available to begin production of My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 right away. See the next section to see how this affects the potential release date.

Then we believe that the anime series is easily popular enough, both domestically and internationally, to warrant a renewal for a second season at CloverWorks. The series currently scores an impressive 4.8/5 Crunchyroll Ratings8.4/10 on IMDB and 8.37/10 further MyAnimeList with over 140,000 reviews.

In fact, My Dress-Up Darling is best rated CloverWorks production on MyAnimeList since The Promised Neverland Season 1, which premiered in January 2019. The production company will certainly make every effort to produce more anime content for the My Dress-Up Darling franchise, which has the potential to rival Fairy Tail and Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.

The series has also ranked prominently in the various audience polls conducted throughout the Anime Broadcasting List. Accordingly Anime TrendsMy Dress-Up Darling has won six-weekly Best Anime polls since its debut and has ranked in the top 10 lists for ten straight weeks!

Overall, given the availability of source material from the manga series and the anime adaptations’ exceptional popularity with a global audience, it should only be a matter of time before CloverWorks confirms My Dress-Up Darling season 2 – but when might it release will ?

What Date Could My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 Release?

While a release window for Season 2 of My Dress-Up Darling has not yet been confirmed, we can make some predictions about the targeted return date based on the Season 1 production cycle.

The anime adaptation of the hit manga series was publicly announced back in April 2021 in the ninth issue of Young Gangan magazine. Episode 1 was then scheduled to air 10 months later on the winter 2023 anime slate on Japanese TV channels starting January 9thth.

Assuming CloverWorks would be able to maintain a similar production cycle for Season 2, anime fans could theoretically see Marin and Gojo returning as early as October 2022.

The only issue with this is the amount of source material currently available to CloverWorks for Season 2. As mentioned, the first season covered the manga through volume 5, with nine volumes released in Japan.

That means if CloverWorks wants to maintain its 12-episode season length, it will ideally have to wait until at least one, if not two, more manga volumes are released.

Based on author Shinichi Fukuda’s current release schedule for new content, fans can expect the next volume to be released in five or six months; around September 2022.

Considering that the production studio will likely need at least one more manga volume, a more realistic release window for My Dress-Up Darling season 2 would be January 2023, back on the winter anime slate.

How to read the original manga in English
