Shanghai reports first deaths from Covid-19 since lockdown began

HONG KONG – Shanghai’s health officials said three Covid-19 patients have died, the first Covid-related deaths reported in China’s financial capital since a widespread outbreak last month, prompting a citywide lockdown.
In a report published Monday on its official social media account, the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission said the deaths were an 89-year-old woman, a 91-year-old woman and a 91-year-old man. The three patients were taken to local hospitals, the commission said.
