Shanghai’s Covid lockdown creates logistical mess with quarantined truckers and stacked containers

Zhu Zhongtao, a Shanghai-based truck driver, was transporting a load of urgently needed supplies from a local manufacturer in a nearby city when he was unexpectedly sent into quarantine.

Mr. Zhu was driving from Shanghai, the center of the current Covid-19 outbreak in China, and was stopped at a toll booth while attempting to enter a county in nearby Wenzhou, said Zhou Chenguang, Mr. Zhu’s employer. There he was asked to provide three separate health declarations to prove he was Covid-free and had not passed through virus hotspots in the past two weeks. He also underwent an on-site Covid test and his result was negative. The driver met all the requirements to enter the county, Mr. Zhou said.
