Shocking moment A Las Vegas couple is almost killed after their truck hits a huge pothole

A Las Vegas couple are grateful to be alive after they were seen on dashcam footage hitting a pothole in the Colorado mountains, causing the trailer they were carrying to tip over.
Thomas Kuemmel and his fiancée Leslie Brock were driving along I-70 towards Denver with a trailer in tow on a trip to the Loveland ski area in Colorado Springs.
The vehicle behind their dashcam caught it all as they spun out of control just before 4:30pm on Saturday.
A pothole on the freeway almost caused them to crash while the trailer overturned behind them.
“We just drove along like that and the next thing you know the trailer starts to shake and we lose total control and it was very scary. I thought I was going to die,’ said Brock, sitting in the passenger seat.

Kuemmel said they foresaw no problems and were either driving at or under speed at the time.
“There was a big jerk and I felt like the trailer was pushing on the truck, and then I started spinning out of control,” Kümmel said Fox31.
Although they were not injured, the couple was subpoenaed by state police for careless driving.
Kuemmel, who owns a photo booth business with Brock, claims he tried to tell the Colorado State Police that the potholes were to blame for the accident, according to his LinkedIn page.
Just two days later, the state’s Department of Transportation closed I-70 to fix a pothole, though it’s unclear if it was the one who caused the couple’s accident.
“If someone disagrees with a citation, either side can appear in court and present the information and evidence to a judge, who would then make a decision on the case,” CSP public information officer Gary Cutler said in a statement.
The state will also allow the couple to go through the process to make claims for damages.
Other drivers complained about how poorly they felt the state police had handled the shutdown for the accident.
“We saw a CDOT sign saying I-70 is closed – must exit at 216,” Todd Phillips told 9NEWS.

However, Phillips claims he only saw the sign after passing the exit required for a detour.
“I realized we have a lot of people and a lot of traffic,” Phillips said. “We can’t magically fix this, but you can certainly mitigate it. And I think we’re doing an extremely bad job.’
Both Kümmel and Block said they were just grateful to be alive.
