Clinton Morrison continued to sing the praises of Ruben Neves Sky Sports’ Football Saturday (02/04, 2:43 p.m.) and why Wolves will miss Arsenal’s reported transfer target during his injury.

Neves held a knee injury during the Molineux Natives’ defeat by Leeds United ahead of the international break in March. The West Midlands side expect him to be out of action until May. But they have some doubts about him facing Chelsea in the penultimate game.

His problem is not considered a complicated injury after a specialist’s visit to Portugal during the league break. But Neves is likely to miss at least five games as Wolves seek a UEFA spot. He has started 26 of the 28 games available to him so far this season.

Neves’ performances in the 25-year-old’s Premier League appearances at Wolves had attracted transfer interest from Arsenal. The sun claims Mikel Arteta believes the Portuguese star can help take the Emirates Stadium squad to a new level and has him high on his shortlist.

Wolves are in talks about a new contract with the midfielder, whose current term expires in 2024. They’re reluctant to let him £50,000 per week However, Ace has shut down its current deal. So Wolves are set to sell Neves for £50m in the summer window without agreeing to any new terms.

Arsenal could also face competition from Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain for Neves’ transfer from Wolves this summer. The Sun add that the trio of clubs are also overseeing the 26-cap star, who has recorded four goals and two assists this league season.

Add in the hefty fee required and the Gunners chiefs might shy away from signing one of Arteta’s premier summer targets. But Morrison is confident Neves is one of the Premier League’s best at his position and one of Wolves will be sorely missed during the Arsenal transfer target’s injury woes.

“You will miss Neves,” Morrison said. “Neves is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League for me, everything goes through him.

“He and Joao Moutinho, the partnership is good, [Leander] Dendoncker is a completely different player. He’s more of a sitter who wants to arrive late and can score while Neves dictates the way Wolves play.
