Tottenham Hotspur fans were impressed by Kyle Walker-Peters’ performance in Southampton’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Saturday.
The 24-year-old from Tottenham’s training camp opened the scoring with a brilliant touch and then shot from a tight angle.
In 2020, Southampton completed the permanent signing of Walker-Peters by placing a £12m bid on his talent (Daily Mail)with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg going in the other direction.
Right-back, or even now right-back, has been a problem for Spurs since they sold Kieran Trippier and at the same time allowed Walker-Peters to leave.
That’s why it looks like the north London club are looking to bring back Adama Traore to the club, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on Twitterto try and add quality to that right-back role.
There are some Spurs fans who argue that Walker-Peters is better than any of the options they have on the right side, including their recent purchases of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty.
One of those players was brought in by Jose Mourinho, while the other was Nuno Espirito Santo.
And to be fair, there are plenty of question marks about what they bring to the table.
There may be some Spurs fans who want to rewind the clock and keep Walker-Peters at the club.
But the likes of Daniel Levy allowed the sale to take place and now Spurs have to chase their losses.
What’s even more amazing is how much Walker-Peters has improved at St Mary’s and his ability to play on the left flank as well.
He was at one point attacking at left-back, which further shows his understanding of defense and his composure in performing that role.
However, here’s a selection of Spurs fans reacting to Walker-Peters’ performance against the current title holders:
