A speeding car lost control, blew up and crashed into an Original Tommy’s in Westlake on Friday night.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. at the restaurant on South Rampart and Beverly Boulevard.

“Me and my brother had a quick bite to eat before the Dodger game and we heard the longest skid in the world. The guy must have been going about 100 miles an hour,” witness Luis Hernandez said.

The driver of the Infiniti was taken to a local hospital after sustaining injuries in the crash, which caused parts of the car to be thrown around.

“It literally exploded. Everything exploded. Me and my brother started running for our lives because it was his left front tire, the wheel came off and hit the roof and then went over the awning that I was under,” Hernandez said.

No one else was injured, but several parked cars were damaged in the impact, including Lenin Guadamuz’s Subaru.

“I saw the whole car blow up and hit the corner of the building. And I thought I hope my car is okay. I had hoped so. I didn’t see the pole. When I went to my car, I saw the pole in the back of my car,” Guadamuz said.

Rescue workers were able to lift the car out of the building.

“I was like, whoa. It seemed like something out of the movies, like ‘The Matrix’ or something. It was pretty cool. I mean it sucks but it was cool,” Guadamuz added.
