Souths coach Jason Demetriou takes covid slap on Bunnies’ Finals hopes from Roosters just before game

South Sydney manager Jason Demetriou tested positive for Covid-19 on the eve of the side’s last regular season game against the Roosters – with the isolation period set to be a major stumbling block in the team’s preparations for the final.
The Rabbitohs announced the news on their website on Thursday morning, saying the trainer had tested positive for a RAT on Tuesday, which has now been confirmed by a PCR test.
“Jason will miss Friday’s game against the Roosters.”
He joins Bunnie’s hooker Damien Cook and is sidelined by the virus for the crunch match, which could see the Souths complete a home finals game if they win and skip their arch-rivals to sixth on the ladder.

The news comes at a bad time for Souths, who are already missing star hooker Damien Cook due to the virus, as they try to beat the Roosters to secure a home finals game
Due to the isolation rules, Demetriou will also not be able to personally coach the side as they prepare for their first final.
Assistant coach Ben Hornby will lead the team against the Tricolors at the new Allianz Stadium on Friday night.
