The Vex attack a critical installation associated with Rasputin’s functions. It’s up to the Guardians of Destiny 2 to scale the Spire of the Watcher and stop the Vex from incorporating the Warmind’s capabilities into their own systems. There are plenty of puzzles to solve, enemies to fend off, and bosses to drop for sweet loot along the way.
Spire of the Watcher core mechanic
The basic puzzle mechanics for Spire of the Watcher involve restoring power to the terminals. This is done by finding the starting point of a pipe line and shooting the connection points under the Arctic buff, and follow the course to the terminal. In order to gain the Arctrician buff, Wardens must kill the Minotaurs that spawn and stand in the Vex pool they drop upon defeat. The buff lasts for 30 seconds, and more time is added for each shot at an intersection.
When it comes to the whistles, they come in two colors. Yellow Pipes will hold the charge indefinitely. Players have time to figure out where the pipes go, get the buff, and piece together the flow. Red Pipes have a relatively short timer and guardians must complete the circuit before charge is lost.

Spire of the Watcher Boss – Akelous, the Siren’s Stream
After climbing the tower, Watchers face off against their first boss in Spire of the Watcher, Akelous, The Siren’s Current. This fight is used yellow pipes. There are four, distributed in cardinal directions from the center of the map. We recommend Guardians split into the first three and tag for the fourth arm. Remember that adds, including your minotaurs, will be spawning all the time, so try to keep them under control, but don’t lose focus on charging the terminals.
Upon charging the fourth terminal, Akelous will float out to meet the strike team. Similar to Garden of Salvation, it will strut like a peacock and show off its pretty eyes. Reward this vulgar display by shooting them all. Once all the lights go out, Akelous is vulnerable to damage. Pop a bubble, drop a fountain, bust out Divinity and your linear fusion rifles, and go to town. Akelous retreats to the center of the map. Follow along, but drop into the hole on the catwalk you’re on to avoid being knocked through the air when Akelous is booming. There’s no rage trigger, so take as many DPS stages as you need to ground that flying pain in the butt.

Tip of the Guardian Boss – Persys, Primordial Ruin
It’s time to put everything you’ve learned into practice in this frenetic encounter. This fight is divided into two rooms. At the start of the fight, Persys will be in room #2. The first objective is to open the doors. Before that, notice the layout of room #1. There are four pillars in the middle with red pipes on the inside lining a Fifth switch above the door to room #2. On the outside are the same pillars yellow pipes leading to terminals in Room #2.
When the fight begins, there will be two hydras that spawn on opposite sides of Room #1. To do this, kill her Let the minotaurs spawn. You should be familiar with the routine by now. Kill the minotaurs, stand in the arctic buff and hit all the red pipe connection points to open the doors to room #2. Note that the large door in the center is open, as are the two smaller doors on either side.
When the door is open, Persys will begin to wander between rooms. It is extremely hostile and will quickly drop a Guardian. Always pay attention to his location! The goal for this phase is to bring power into room two via the yellow pipes. Every time this stage rolls around there are random nodes on the pillars in room #1. Just find the ones that are open and chase the stream to the respective terminal.
Before activating the final terminal, Make sure Persys is in room #2! The Reactor is active and Guardians must immediately move it to Room #1, drop the Minotaurs and activate the red switch to close the main door. The reactor will ignite and Persys will lose his shield. Once the reactor has done its job, the main door opens and Persys enters room #1. This marks the start of the DPS phase. Much like Akelous, use whatever buffs you have in conjunction with your hardest-hitting weapons. The damage window is short, so make the most of it.
Once his shield is rebuilt, Persys will start wandering the rooms again. This again marks the beginning of the rotation. There is no rage trigger for this fight, so play it safe, play smart, and take your time. Eventually you’ll ditch Persys and hopefully grab a pretty nifty slur for your troubles.
