Country star Luke Bryan has caused a media whirlwind just ahead of the CMA Awards, which he will co-host with soccer star Peyton Manning on Nov. 9, 2022. The planned promotional appearances, but soccer fans were split over the weekend over his debut appearance, and many posted on social media that he may have “bounced” a little too much before going live on TV.
Luke Bryan gets trashed after his GameDay performance
Bryan began his promotional appearances on November 5, serving as a celebrity guest pick at ESPN’s College GameDay. According to the sports website saturday in the south, the ardent Georgia Bulldogs fan disagreed with the panel; Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit all chose Tennessee to beat the Bulldogs in Athens, Georgia.
However, Bryan got the last laugh because Georgia actually beat Tennessee 27-13 and his picks proved more accurate than the pundits. Twitter had a lot to say about Bryan’s performance, with some praising the singer for his choices.
One wrote: “Luke Bryan come from Gameday and being the only person on the crew to choose Georgia and Notre Dame was legendary. Aside from that bama pick, almost a full swing! Thank you for coming to Athens!”
Though many were impressed with his choices, many football fans were less than impressed with the star’s behavior on the show, which has included lying on the floor to kiss, gasping and sticking his tongue out like the Bulldogs’ mascot, Uga .
He clapped and hopped in his chair frequently during the show and said he was already losing his voice before he did a concert in Tampa that night, but revealed he had the exact antidote.
Laughing, he said: “Advil, cold beer, it’ll be back!”
One person wrote, “Luke Bryan must be the drunkest innkeeper they’ve ever had which is impressive.”
“Luke Bryan seems sure to have done some tailgating before going on the air GameDay,” someone tweeted.
One woman wrote, “The way he literally wouldn’t sit in his chair made it look like he either had a cocaine problem or hemorrhoids.”
Another person tweeted, “Georgia should only lose because Luke Bryan is weird.”
But Bryan will have another chance to impress sports fans on November 7 when he appears as a special guest on “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli,” which airs at 8:15 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
