Chaotic scenes emerged as the sun rose over the party hotspots of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Cancun, of students drunk diving into pools, stripping in crowded clubs and twerking on yachts.

Like moths in a flame, hordes of sleepy spring breakers were seen descending onto the beach later Friday morning to soak up the sun and prepare for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

A police presence was evident at the popular beach, and girls posed for photos while officers armed with guns stood smiling beside them.

This is the first time in three years that college students can truly enjoy spring break without the threat of COVID-19 restrictions – and their ceaseless partying proves they’re making the most of their newfound freedom.

Officers on bikes, buggies and SUVs patrolled the area, others were seen guiding K-9s between sunbathers on the crowded beach.

Preparations for the busy season come as US officials, including the State Department, warned Americans not to travel to Mexico following a spate of violent crime.

Last month, four Americans were kidnapped and two killed in Matamoros, Mexico.

The authorities’ biggest fear this year is tackling opioid overdoses, with several nonprofits teaming up with the Florida Department of Health and Human Services to give out free narcan and educate people about the dangers.

The influx of people will mean law enforcement will keep a close eye on the area’s beaches, especially after what happened on Florida’s east coast last year.

The beaches were awash with people enjoying a relaxing morning before the night’s events

There, six West Point Cadets were hospitalized after authorities said they overdosed on cocaine but later learned it was laced with fentanyl.

“People take opioids and don’t realize they’re taking an opioid,” Shelby Meaders, executive director of the Florida Harm Reduction Collective, told Fox News.

“They don’t realize that maybe they’re using fentanyl and cocaine or some other type of drug supply, and people overdose and don’t have narcan on hand.”

The state’s opioid crisis is killing 21 people a day, according to Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office.

According to the Pinellas County Opioid Task Force, deaths from accidental drug overdoses have increased in Pinellas County every year since 2018.

Their numbers show that of the 618 accidental overdose deaths in 2021, at least 418 were caused by fentanyl.

Another night of partying was evident as the revelers seemed to be preparing for another big night

For this reason, organizations like the Florida Harm Reduction Collective work with the county’s opioid task force.

They will be dispensing free Narcan on area beaches every Tuesday and Thursday through May, educating spring breakers about the dangers and showing them how to administer the life-saving drug in an emergency.

“It’s a really simple nasal spray that you can use,” Meaders said.

“You can get it for free, and you can save a life by having it on hand. We’re just teaching people the signs and symptoms of an overdose, how to get them for free if you don’t want them, or take them from us today, and then we work to teach the shops and restaurants and bars how they can have them it on hand to save a life.’
