Accordingly The day starTottenham Hotspur ready to sell Harry Winks
The report claims Tottenham will be listening to “reasonable offers” for the 26-year-old midfielder.
It’s been a rollercoaster season for Winks in north London.
But if Spurs sell him this summer, it could be one of the few things Nuno Espirito Santo was actually right about.
Winks was not a first-team regular under Nuno.
In fact, he was sometimes not even included in the matchday squad, which was a pretty clear indication that the Portugal manager simply didn’t appreciate the Hotspur Way academy graduate.
Early in Antonio Conte’s reign, this decision by Nuno looked increasingly foolish.
And that’s because Winks proved himself under the Italian, reminding English football that he is indeed a talent.
However, the arrival of Rodrigo Bentancur has forced him back to being a supporting actor in north London.
And if Tottenham sell Winks this summer, it will almost justify the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager not believing the player was good enough.
There is no doubt that Winks is good enough for the Premier League but perhaps insufficient quality for a team aiming to get back into the top four and eventually win the Premier League.
