Spurs said the attacker, who will join them, “doesn’t care about his current fans”.

Craig Burley has claimed Tottenham’s transfer target Gareth Bale “doesn’t care” whether Real Madrid fans want him sacked or not. as he told ESPN.

Bale was absent from his last game at the Santiago Bernabeu as Real Madrid recorded a goalless draw against Real Betis on Friday.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at Real in the summer and he is set to be his departure from Spanish football in next week’s Champions League final against Liverpool.

Bale made his mark at Spurs, returning to the club on loan last season and there are now suggestions he has agreed to rejoin for next season.

While the Welshman can sit back and enjoy the legacy he helped build at Madrid, it all ends quite bitterly as his relationship with the club and its supporters has long since turned very sour.

Former Scotland international Burley made it clear that the player himself decided to end it like this and no one else.

“He chose that ending, didn’t he?” said Burley. “He chose to make it happen that way.

“Yes, he may not have played much and had some injuries.

“But he was definitely up front and basically said, ‘I don’t care if the fans see me off like I do, or if he’s in the stadium or not.’

“For all this great performance and I was a big fan of his. I saw him at Spurs and all those games. He chose to end it up sour himself.

“He could have helped himself but obviously doesn’t mind if he gets sent off or not – he likes to give his all for Wales but is happy his Madrid career is coming to an end.”

WHAT WILL BALE STAY IN HIS TANK WHEN HE RETURNS TO TOTTENHAM?

As Antonio Conte proved, he will demand 100% from his players and nothing else.

If Bale does indeed join Spurs, will he be able to play with the intensity the high-profile Italian wants from him?

Under Jose Mourinho when Bale was reportedly finished, injured and over he scored 11 Premier League goals from 20 games.

So if he can do that, if he’s in this situation, imagine what he can do once he gets his engine fine-tuned?
